The overwhelming majority of elements are solids at STP - only 11 are gases (noble gases plus hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, chlorine) and just 2 are liquids (bromine and mercury). Metals dominate the solid category due to strong metallic bonding, while noble gases with their complete electron shells have minimal intermolecular attraction.
